With every library there is a story.

The CZ Scorpion is a very interesting firearm. On the surface it looks like an assault rifle, however, it is not.

From CZ – USA website “The CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Pistol is legally classified by the ATF as a pistol, and is intended by CZ-USA to be used as a pistol. Under current federal law and ATF policy attaching a stock to this pistol – or attaching a device which is then used as a stock or intended to be used as a stock – constitutes the making of a short-barreled rifle which requires registration with ATF”

Visiting a friend on a recent trip he asked if I had seen his new CZ Scorpion. I was somewhat familiar with CZ as they are fairly well-known in their industry.  Nonetheless, I could not recall the specification of that particular firearm. My friend brought it out and I could not pass up the chance to record some dry sounds. My friend was a champ and was all about it! Interestingly enough, I had both my Schoeps & Soundfield rigs with me. I decided to capture sounds with both systems. One thing to note is the microphones were not able to fit in the same space. The recorded images do vary.

Starting as a sound editor many years ago, I recall what a demanding task it was to find modern libraries that were relevant to the type of work I was doing. With recent offerings increasing, libraries have become considerably better. Through the introduction of more immersive formats from Dolby Atmos to a plethora of VR platforms, variety and quality have become vitally important. I am not a person that shies away from different and modern recording techniques. Improving the way I can capture, deploy, and deliver sounds has always been a goal.

I have enjoyed building sound libraries, and over the years, I have created many mini-collections for jobs I’ve worked on. I try to squeeze every ouch of performance out of my equipment and abilities. With the idea to make some of these libraries commercially available. My goal is to share something I love doing and offering them to the maturing world of immersive sound libraries. I savor the new adventures it leads me on! I want to invite everybody to come along with me, sonically and visually!
